• Here you will find the chronicles of our family of four. More pictures than words, I am most at home capturing our life with a still camera. Photos help me recognize the beauty and awesomeness in both the phenomenal people I live life alongside and this breathtaking place we live, planet earth.

I am a child of God. I am the wife to a wonderful man, mother to two amazing little people. I am both daughter and sister. I am a runner. I love to travel and read.

I often title this season of our life's adventure, The Continuing Adventures of Mallory Girl and Mark Boy. The photography is mine (unless otherwise noted.) Questions are always welcome. Thanks for reading and adventuring alongside us.

Half Crazy

For the second year in a row I ran the Music City Half Marathon. Hooray! 13.1 miles. It was fun, (crazy right?!?!) I ran faster than last year (go me) 2:34

My absolute FAVORITE moment was after the finish line (a close second) when these two and their handsome Daddy found me in the CROWD-over 30,000 people ran the race with me. Running is helpful for my health and mandatory for my state of mind, perhaps it’s even become a lifestyle. But that it makes me a better, happier mother and wife is the “why” I run.

afternoon on the porch

During Ben’s annual trip out west to NAB, Nonnie came to keep us company. While she was here, we freshened a few spots around the house including the porch. I don’t know why, but it’s taken me almost seven years to put a bench on our porch. The front door arrangement’s facelift included changing out the winter pansies & forsythia for spring to summer geraniums & daisies. I’m not finished with the “porch re-invention” project, but serious strides were made in four days. Nonnie’s last afternoon here, it rained and the children had cabin fever. Trust me they desperately needed to be outside. We chose the covered porch with it’s new bench and a side of bubbles for our afternoon entertainment. Nonnie and Mallory enjoyed an art lesson, Mark waved to the various school buses that pass our house every afternoon and refined his bubble blowing skills, while I happily snapped pictures of the afternoon festivities. Thank you Nonnie for coming and keeping us company and me sane.

I love your pictures. Yes, I missed Nonnie, but knowing she could play with Mallory and Mark and keep you happy made it worthwhile. Love you! Pape

Such fun!! Looking forward to seeing how Mallory’s drawing is developing at WDW!! Had a dream about you telling the children about the trip, and they did somersaults!

goggles

The scheduling of swimming lessons for big sister prompted playtime with Daddy’s goggles. I wonder if Mark boy will be interested in wearing goggles in the pool come summer!

8 months sweet

These adorable little guys let me come play one morning. We played in the grass, they showed me their favorite blankets and musical toy, they giggled delightedly. I had a wonderful time behind the camera and with their fabulous parents! Thanks for the playdate!! I’m looking forward to our next-

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was a tad hectic. We arrived home from the Farm Saturday afternoon and had not recovered from our wonderful trip, not even a little. Generally speaking, on previous Easter Sundays, I manage to squeeze a quick photo session in before we leave for church.  It was so NOT going to happen this particular morning. I had, what I like to think of as, a mature mommy moment. One where I say to myself, “pictures before church, or even taken TODAY aren’t important. Having a pleasant, reduced stress morning is, important. One where we get travel to church, to celebrate our Risen Savior with while not screaming at each other or seething silently in frustration.” I made the executive decision to postpone Easter pictures. Maybe even to a whole other day, when I might or might not, re-dress everyone in these same clothes and try to find my camera. As it turned out, we had time before lunch was ready to snap these. Thank goodness I didn’t push earlier in the morning. FOR SURE I wouldn’t have gotten these!

And just for the record, self timers don’t always work out well. Especially when I’m hoping they will. Darn aperture setting…..
