Conning your friends or parents into pulling you
up the hill and pushing you down. SO MUCH FUN. You must have done this
25 times laughing and clapping and squealing with glee each and every
time.
When I put Mallory down for her nap today, I told her she had a treat. I found the Curious George book in the car and she gets to read it to herself before naptime. So I put her in the bed, wrap her up (yes we still “swaddle” her) and hand her the book. She opens it up, takes one had off the book, looks at me, waves at me and says, “bye bye.” And goes back to her reading.
Life is so SO sweet!
My sweet sweet girl.
This week is full of firsts.
The first times I put you down in a parking lot to walk. Today (and yesterday) you happily held my hand and were so excited to help open doors.
The first time you went upstairs by yourself looking for a misplaced blanket (rather than looking for a missing Mommy.) The first time it has occurred to me that the gates at the top and bottom of the stairs are really about convenience rather than constant fear for your saftey.
The first time you opened your mouth and let me brush your teeth (even thought you didn’t want to-I usually just let you chew on the toothbrush.)
The first time you have slept alone without a monitor (only because I left it in Houston)
And one rather significant last.
The last time you will fly free on Southwest because you are under two.
We love you and are so proud of you. Keep growing sweet girl. We promise to keep watching and praying.
We have had more fun in the hallway this trip. Speeding down the hall on the corn popper, playing hide & seek around the columns, running laps, and carrying Mickey Mouse around. These pictures taken today of Mallory and Nonnie make me love my parents so much. They love their children and granddaughter so well.
Mallory and her grandparents are such good buddies. In fact, she and all of her grandparents and great-grand parents have a sweet bond. She delights in visiting them and talking about them, and seeing them. We are fortunate that this summer we have gotten to spend time with lots of family and she is soaking it all in. Storing up all the love lavished on her and giving it back in spades.
