My family will be the first to tell you that I am resistant to change. When it came time for my bedroom walls to be painted {keep in mind I was away at college at this point} I asked that my parents leave the border and paint the walls below it. Because, what if I missed the floral border that we put up 10 years prior. This past January, My grandmother offered to redo the stocking I have used at her house since I was little, and I immediately said, "No." I didn’t think about it, didn’t consider the implications for other grandchildren who might want a fresher version, just said, "no thank you, I like this one."
As I was surfing the sites I frequent, I found this quote today.
"All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward." (e. glasgow)
It just makes me think…some change is good. But it’s OK not to want or need change just for change’s sake.
You are preaching to the choir over here! I, too, like the comfort of all things familiar. I’ll be sure to use that quote the next time Scott gets a wild hair to do something crazy (like build another house)!
